Job Opportunity: Founding Engineer

At Unit Co., we’re on a mission to give small businesses the tools they need to create and amplify their social and environmental impact. Our Unit of Impact platform helps companies measure, manage, and share the story of their impact – through time-efficient data management, performance-enhancing analytics, and an industry-first impact report generator. We were founded by three certified B Corps and are a Maryland public benefit corporation, committed at our core to making the world a better place – through better business practices.

We’re on the lookout for a dynamic, highly motivated Founding Engineer to join our team and play a crucial role in shaping the future of our company. As a Founding Engineer, you’ll be doing more than just coding; you’ll be at the heart of our core team, responsible for designing and developing the groundbreaking technology that drives our product. You’ll work hand-in-hand with the founding team to understand the needs of customers and create a technical roadmap that aligns seamlessly with our company’s goals.

Responsibilities:

  • Establish the foundation for groundbreaking advancements in our next-gen technology, setting the stage for sustained innovation and growth
  • Partner with the founding team to comprehend business needs and craft a technical roadmap
  • Play a key role in the architecture and design of the product, ensuring it meets both current and future needs
  • Write clean, maintainable, and scalable code that stands the test of time
  • Integrate cutting-edge AI technologies into our data analysis and reporting workflows, elevating the intelligence and efficiency of our platform

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science or a related field
  • At least 3 years of experience as a full stack software engineer, with a proven track record of delivering high-quality products
  • Proficiency in at least one programming language (e.g., Java, Python, Go)
  • Exceptional problem-solving skills and meticulous attention to detail
  • Stellar communication and teamwork skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in building products from scratch, because we love trailblazers
  • Familiarity with cloud platforms like AWS, GCP, or Azure, so you can hit the ground running
  • Contributions to open-source projects, because sharing is caring
  • Prior startup experience, so you know what you’re getting into
  • Knowledgeable in the areas of data storage, processing, and privacy compliance

Compensation: 

This position will initially be equity-based for the first 6 months. We’re already revenue-generating with a proven product-market fit. We’re currently in the midst of a financing round, and upon its successful closure, we plan to expand our engineering team and offer cash compensation.
